Kumba is the only hematite ore producer in the world to wholly beneficiate its product. This is made possible through Dense Medium Separation (DMS) and jig technology

Kumba is the only hematite ore producer in the world to wholly beneficiate its product. This is made possible through Dense Medium Separation (DMS) and jig technology

Seven reasons to choose Kumba Iron Ore:
    1. High FE content of all products.

    2. Low undersize of lump ore.

    3. Breaks down less during handling and transportation
Benefit: customers receive a larger fraction of valuable lump ore

    4. Creates less dust during handling and transportation
Benefit: there is less ore loss and less impact on the environment

    5. Has an excellent thermal shock resistance
Benefit: less fines are formed in the top of the blast furnace and therefore less of these fine particles is lost to the off-gas and the burden becomes more permeable

    6. Breaks down less during reduction in the top part of the blast furnace
Benefit: there is lower fines formation in the blast furnace, which increases permeability of the burden and less coke is needed

    7. Increased sinter plant productivity as a result of a coarser fine ore
Benefit: counters the finer sinter feed material in the market, thereby increasing permeability
